Common stereotypes of:
Children- Cute, oblivious, naive and mischievous
Teenagers- Moody, experimental, rude, stressed, attention seeking, aggressive, easily influenced
20’s and 30’s- Party lifestyle, fashion conscious, immature, unsure of what life holds, struggle with elements of work life
Middle Aged- Mature, settled and wise
Elderly- Weak, frail, burden
Representation of youth in SKINS:
Shown at first as out going, innocent and strong bonds. Fight erupts due to alcohol and youth begin to look rebellious as they have no regard for peace. When the police become involved the situation doesn't become calm.
Representation of the middle aged in DR FOSTER:
Shown as discontent in family life due to non diegetic sound, may feel trapped in relationships due to commitments such as children, however they can be sophisticated and educated as she is a doctor. Shows that there are more commitments and worries with age.
Representation of old age in CATHERINE TATE:
Shown as having a loud, overpowering voice which sometimes cant be understand. She is straight to the point and doesn't account for what other people know or think. She may not understand what is going on and interprets wrong information.
Older people may enjoy a ‘second childhood’. This is because they once again have less commitments and much more free time.
